During the Ottoman Empire from the Fall of Constantinople and throughout the period of Turkish rule until shortly before the Greek Revolution of 1821 called Rumeli allegedly high administrative region covering the entire Balkans apart from the Danubian provinces, Bosnia, Crete , Cyprus and some islands of the Aegean. It was the Ottoman administrative title Roumeli Walesa (= Valis Roumeli), who brought the individual local governor of the region of Central Greece today to about the region of Thessaloniki in the early Greek Revolution of 1821.
